Front-End Load Driver

Responsibilities

The Front Load Driver operates refuse collection vehicles on pre-assigned and special routes to pick up garbage. Performs pre-trip and post-trip truck check and cleaning; and performs other related work as assigned. Work is performed under supervision and performance is reviewed while in progress and upon completion through direct observation of routes, and discussion of problems. Responsibilities also include:

  • The Rear Load Driver is responsible for servicing commercial business picking up Rear Load Containers and loose refuse. Empties containers using levers inside truck cab to empty container into the truck using forks. May need to open corral doors to access containers and as needed, rolls 3-4 yard can on castors weighing up to 600 pounds into position for dumping. Picks up loose trash off truck and/or ground and cleans up spills that may occur. Transports waste to a designated local landfill/disposal area.
  • Completes route / productivity sheets, records mileage, fuel consumption, logbook (as required), Vehicle Condition Reports, and other forms.
  • Communicates professionally with customers and reports any customer issues / complaints to appropriate internal contacts. Provides Distinguishably Different level of service through courteous and expeditious customer service in all aspects of refuse operation to customers. Exhibits a positive attitude towards company and customer and goals.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of the truck which includes: pre-trip and post-trip inspections, evaluation of materials left for collections, determination of whether those materials include any hazardous materials, decision making and judgment regarding what materials may be placed safely in the truck for transport, and ensures the safety of each employee encountered.
  • Cleans waste from the packer blade and the truck body on each landfill run to ensure smooth and safe operations
  • Maintains clean truck and washes exterior weekly. Inspect/Clean Truck: Lift hood, inspect under the hood, walk around and check under carriage; pump gas, check fluid levels and air tires – Uses air gauge, dipstick for levels, and gas pump nozzle for gas fill.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

  • Must have a valid Class A or B CDL license for the state in which the position works. Requires a safe driving record.
  • Requires 2 years of waste industry driving experience within the past 5 (five) years
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older
  • Understand refuse collection policies, procedures, guidelines and practices, understanding of Department of Transportation and State requirements for operators of commercial motor vehicles.
  • Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction
  • See in the normal visual range with or without correction
  • Exhibit normal range of body motion
  • Drive a front-end loading refuse truck, including right-hand driver’s position on certain equipment, observing legal and defensive driving practices.

Rear-End Load Driver Helper

Schedule

Monday – Friday 4AM

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the Garbage Truck Driver Helper position will include but is not limited to the following:

  • Assists TRUCK DRIVER by performing any combination of following tasks: Loads and unloads loose bag service onto vehicles.
  • Assist the driver while maneuvering into positions for collection and disposal through hand signals
  • Maintain and partake in daily clean-up of vehicle
  • Learn garbage routes to better assist driver
  • Attend all required training, operational meetings, and mandatory monthly Safety Meetings
  • Operates all motored vehicles in safe and efficient manner

Diesel Mechanic – Class C

Schedule

Monday – Friday 9AM-6PM

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the Class C Diesel Truck Mechanic position will include but is not limited to the following:

  • Provide general vehicle maintenance to all vehicles according to an established schedule. This includes greasing, oil changes, repair lights, & tire changes.
  • Light-Duty Repairs and maintain as needed, all types of vehicular equipment.
  • Ensure that all company vehicles and equipment comply with federal DOT, motor vehicle inspection, and safety standards requirements.
  • Control and maintain parts inventory. Maintain repair orders, parts usage, and other required paperwork. Pickup requested vehicle parts as needed.
  • Provide road service when necessary.
  • Assist senior mechanics in the completion of project work.

Qualifications

  • Diesel Mechanic Certification from an accredited school. (Preferred)
  • Diesel Mechanic, 2 years (Preferred)

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the key responsibilities of the Accounts Receivable position will include but is not limited to the following:

  • Maintain files and records so they remain updated and easily accessible
  • Sort and distribute incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail (envelopes, packages, etc.)
  • Answer the phone to take messages or redirect calls to appropriate colleagues

Picker/Sorter – T/S MRF

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the key responsibilities of the Picker/Sorter position will include but is not limited to the following:

  • Inspect materials and sort items or materials into piles or places in container.
  • Sort/Recover Recyclables from Waste Stream
  • Stack boxes and skids. Dump boxes and totes of material.
  • Feed material, such as wastepaper onto conveyor.
  • Clean up conveyor and surrounding sorting line. Keep surrounding work area clean.
  • Read monitor for machine start up and ensure machine is operating properly and at a moderate speed.
  • Follow appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs) as guideline for operating and maintaining equipment.
  • Report any worker-public safety factors and/or equipment malfunctions.

Roll-Off Driver

Responsibilities

Roll-Off Drivers safely operates a heavy-duty truck and is responsible for preparing, loading, and transporting large mobile open top and compactor containers to disposal sites, transfer or recycle facilities and customer locations. Roll-Off Drivers will navigate driveways, alleyways, lots, high traffic roadways and may operate in tight overhead environments while on industrial routes. Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential, to successfully perform this job. Operates vehicle in accordance with Waste Management Safety and Life Critical Rules. OSHA. (Occupational and Safety Health Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, municipal, state, and federal laws. Responsibilities also include:

  • Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment and documents checks on standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report.).
  • Immediately reports any unsafe situations or service-related issues to Route Manager or Dispatch.
  • Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings required by Allegro Sanitation.
  • Works closely with Route Managers to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
  • Notifies Route Manager or Dispatch of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.
  • Notifies Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions, including blocked containers, closed lots, street, alleyways, or potential safety hazards.
  • Communicates customer requests to Route Manager or Dispatch.
  • Identifies and reports all containers in need of repair or replacement
  • Completes and submits customer tickets as required.
  • Positions and / or returns container on the customer’s property in a manner that ensures lids and or doors are properly replaced, and do not block driveway entrances or traffic.
  • Follows route assignments as directed and completes end of day documentation and the checkout process.
  • Performs all duties as scheduled by Route Manager or Dispatch and assisting other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.

Tractor Trailer Driver

Responsibilities

Responsible for transporting waste from one place to another using company’s tractor-trailers. Having experience in operating trucks with a capacity of at least 26,000 pounds per gross vehicle weight. Transporting large containers to disposal sites, transfer or recycling facilities and customer locations.

  • Deliver waste as instructed while operating a tractor-trailer truck.
  • Report to dispatch of any incidents encountered on the road.
